Oral presentations are scheduled for 15 minutes total including presentation, discussion, and transition. Session chairs will be instructed to give warnings at 8 minutes and 10 minutes, and to cut off presentation or discussion if necessary to allow for a timely transition to the subsequent talk. Presentations must be handed in at least 3 hours prior to the lecture at the Speaker-Ready-Room. Monday morning session presentations must be uploaded on Sunday at the registration desk. We except the following presentation formats: MS Power-Point, Mac Keynote, or PDF.  

Poster presentation authors are required to be available for questions and further information at their poster board during the respective poster session (Tuesday or Thursday, 5:30-7:30 p.m.). The entire poster can have a maximum size of 150 cm high x 95 cm wide (portrait style; 59 x 37 inch). The poster does not necessarily have to fill the entire working area. Material for attaching the posters to the poster boards will be available at the registration counter.

The Speaker Ready Room is located in Conference Room 1 on the first floor of the Henry-Ford-Bau.

Presentations must be handed in at least 3 hours prior to the lecture at the Speaker Ready Room.

Monday morning session presentations must be uploaded on Sunday at the registration desk at the Thaersaal.

The official language of the 79th Annual Meeting of the Meteoritical Society is English. Simultaneous translation will not be offered.

Poster sessions will be held on Tuesday, 9 August and Thursday, 11 August 2016 from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. All posters are on display throughout the conference.

The 79th Annual Meeting of the Meteoritical Society will be accompanied by a technical exhibition, which is located in the foyer on the ground floor of the Henry-Ford Bau.

Potential exhibitors can request exhibition / sponsorship information from the exhibition office CPO HANSER SERVICE GmbH at metsoc2016@cpo-hanser.de.

The congress fee does not include insurance.

The organizers do not accept any liability for damages and / or losses of any kind which may be incurred by the congress participants or by any person accompanying them, during either the official activities, excursions or tours. Delegates participate in all tours / excursions / events at their own risk. Participants are advised to take out insurance against loss, accidents or damage that could be incurred during the congress.

The official currency of Germany is Euro (EUR). Congress payments will be accepted only in EURO. Naturally, payment by credit card is encouraged.

Germany is part of the European Schengen zone, which allows for visa-free entry for citizens from most European and American countries, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea. Residents of other countries may need a visum to be issued from German embassies. Depending on the citizenship the processing time is currently between one and four weeks.

How to get to the Museum für Naturkunde

The Museum für Naturkunde is located directly downtown Berlin and can be reach by the following means of public transport:

  • Underground line: U6 (station Naturkundemuseum; use the southern exit Invalidenstraße, then turn right into Invalidenstraße)
  • S-Bahn line: S1, S2, S25 (station Berlin Nordbahnhof), S5, S7, S75 (station Berlin Nordbahnhof)
  • Bus lines: N6, N40 (station Naturkundemuseum), 120, 123, 142, 245, N20, N40 (station Invalidenpark)
  • Tram: M5, M8, M10, 12 (station Naturkundemuseum)

How to get from the city centre to the congress venue

The following means of public transport connect the city centre with the congress venue Henry-Ford-Bau:

  • Underground line: U3 (station Thielplatz)
  • S-Bahn line: S1 (station Lichterfelde West)
  • Bus lines: X10, 115, 285 (station Oskar-Helene-Heim), M11 (station Hittorfstr.), 110 (station Thielplatz), X83 and N3 (station Dahlem-Dorf)

We recommend using underground line U3 and exit at Thielplatz station. Use the southern exit (Brümmerstraße/Faradayweg) and turn left at the top of the stairs. Cross Brümmerstraße and turn right. After 90 m, keep to the left and then immediately turn left into Van't-Hoff-Straße. After 100 m, turn right into Boltzmannstraße. You will reach the congress venue Henry-Ford-Bau after some 170 m.

 

How to get to the Congress Banquet at the Wasserwerk

The Waterworks is located in the Western city center and can be reached by public transport, as follows:

  • Underground line: U3, U9 (station Spichernstraße) - please note that U9 is currently not fully serving in one section and we recommend to use the busses M85 or 285 between Rathaus Steglitz and Walther-Schreiber-Platz 
  • S-Bahn line: S1 (station Zoologischer Garten)
  • Bus lines: 204, N3, N9 (station Spichernstraße), 249 and N3 (station Hohenzollernplatz)

Tickets

BVG (Berlin Trans. Co.) Tickets are valid for all transportation (i.e., Bus, Tram (Straßenbahn), U-Bahn (subway), S-Bahn (express subway), and DB regional trains. Tickets for zones AB cover the entire city area including Tegel Airport. For Schönefeld Airport or Potsdam you will need a Berlin ABC ticket

  • Single ticket Berlin AB: 1 trip, EUR 2.70; tickets must be validated (red or yellow machines on platforms (S-Bahn, U-Bahn, DB regional trains) or inside buses and trams. Theyare valid for 2 h, but round/return trips are not allowed.
  • Block of 4 single tickets Berlin AB: 4 trips, EUR 9.00, validation for each trip necessary.
  • 7-Day-Ticket Berlin AB: unlimited number of trips, EUR 30.00
